Glass Splashbacks Perth

If you are building or renovating, when it comes time to do the kitchen, specifically your splashback, you have a number of options. Gone are the days when bare walls or tiles were your 2 choices, you can now choose from any number of materials or colours. A glass splashback can really make your kitchen pop and of course, add overall value and a feeling of quality to your home. A friend of mine has an eggshell blue glass splashback in her home here in Perth and you wouldn’t believe how that splash of colour brightens the feel of their open plan living space.

So I want to talk about the two obvious options; tiles and glass. What are the main benefits to getting a glass splashback as opposed to a tiled one? Here in Western Australia, where the new home market is booming, glass splashbacks are proving to be a popular choice not only for their good looks but for how much easier they are to keep clean.

So besides being modern and sleek, what other benefits does a glass splashback offer you? Well, did you know, a glass splashback will brighten your kitchen not only with the colour that you choose but as you know, glass is a natural reflector of light so your kitchen will instantly appear brighter. It’s just science you guys! Not only is it brighter but quite often, a glass splashback will make your kitchen feel bigger too as unlike tiles which have joins, a glass splashback offers a more fluid look that simply cannot be achieved with tiles.

We all know that tiles come hand in hand with grout and anyone who has ever had a tiled floor, bathroom or kitchen, knows how hard grout is to keep clean especially in the kitchen. A kitchen is a space where food preparation occurs and so the grout (which is porous) is exposed to things like grease, heat and splatter and all these things can discolour or stain your grout. Have you have ever tried to clean dirty grout? If you have, you know what an arduous task it can be. A glass splashback requires nothing but some glass cleaner and a good wipe and it is back to looking good as new in no time. I don’t know about you but that is a huge advantage to me as a busy working Mum. All too often, grout can become mouldy as well which is a huge problem for people who suffer from allergies and mould is hard to get rid of. With a glass splashback, you have a more hygienic space to work in and the peace of mind that no nasty allergens are lurking.

Like a piece of art that you hang on a wall, a glass splashback can act in the same way. All too often, kitchens have been seen as rooms that have function and not form and now, thanks to a beautiful glass splashback, it can be both!
